1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using the Welica app (available on iOS, Android, and web platforms), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use the app.

Age & Consent Requirements

You must be at least 13 years old to use Welica. If you are between 13 and 18 years old, you must have the explicit written consent of your parent or legal guardian before using this app. We recommend that parents and guardians review these terms with their children.

By creating an account or using the app, you represent that you meet these age and consent requirements.

2. Description of Service

Welica is an educational app designed to support personal development in three key areas:

  • Life Skills: Courses covering communication, time management, financial literacy, and other practical life competencies
  • Career Exploration: Tools and resources to explore career paths, develop professional skills, and plan your future
  • Wellness: Resources and tools to support mental health, physical wellness, and overall well-being
  • Personalized Feed: A tailored content feed based on your interests and learning progress

The app is available on iOS, Android, and web platforms. All content is provided for educational and personal development purposes.

3. Account Registration & Security

Account Creation

To use Welica, you must create an account using one of the following authentication methods:

  • Google Sign-In
  • Apple Sign-In
  • Phone number verification
  • Email and password

Account creation and sign-in are handled securely via Firebase Authentication.

Your Responsibilities

  • One Account Per Person: You may only create and maintain one Welica account. Creating multiple accounts violates these terms.
  • Account Security: You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Do not share your password or authentication tokens with anyone.
  • Accurate Information: You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. You are responsible for keeping this information up to date.
  • Unauthorized Access: If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, contact us immediately at support@welica.app.

4. Subscription Terms

Free and Premium Tiers

Welica may offer both free and premium subscription tiers. The features available in each tier will be clearly displayed in the app.

Premium Subscription Management

  • App Store Processing: All premium subscriptions are processed through and managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, depending on your platform.
  • Billing: You authorize these platforms to charge your chosen payment method for your subscription.
  • Auto-Renewal: Premium subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel before the end of your current billing period.
  • Price Changes: We may change subscription prices with 30 days' notice. Price changes apply to future billing periods.

Cancellation & Refunds

  • Cancellation: To cancel your subscription, follow the cancellation process in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store (depending on your device).
  • Refunds: Refund requests are subject to the refund policies of Apple or Google. We do not directly process refunds, but we encourage users to contact the respective app store if they have refund questions.
  • Free Trials: If offered, free trials are subject to the terms displayed during sign-up. Your subscription will automatically begin billing after the free trial ends unless you cancel beforehand.

5. AI-Powered Features

How We Use AI

Welica includes AI-powered features that use OpenAI technology to generate personalized feedback on your learning reflections. This feature helps you deepen your understanding of the material and track your personal growth.

Important: When you use AI feedback features, your reflection text is sent to OpenAI for processing. See our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.

Limitations of AI Feedback

  • Generated Content: AI feedback is automatically generated and may not always be accurate, complete, or suitable for your specific situation.
  • Not Professional Advice: AI feedback should not be treated as professional advice (medical, psychological, legal, or career counseling).
  • Use at Your Own Risk: You should not rely solely on AI feedback for important decisions. Always seek qualified professionals for serious concerns.
  • Opt-Out Available: You can skip or opt out of AI feedback features at any time. All other app functionality remains available.

6. Content Ownership & Intellectual Property

App Content Ownership

All content created by Welica, including lessons, quizzes, exercises, career data, wellness resources, and other educational materials, is owned by the Welica developer and protected by copyright law. You may not:

  • Reproduce, copy, or redistribute app content
  • Distribute content to others without permission
  • Use app content for commercial purposes
  • Create derivative works based on our content
  • Remove or alter any copyright or trademark notices

Your Content Ownership

You retain ownership of your personal content, including:

  • Learning reflections you write
  • Quiz and exercise responses
  • Wellness check-in entries
  • Any other personal data you create in the app

License to Welica

By submitting content to Welica, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • Store your content securely on our servers
  • Process and analyze your content to provide the service (including AI feedback generation)
  • Use anonymized or aggregated data for service improvement and analytics

Trademarks & Branding

Welica, its logo, and other Welica trademarks are the exclusive property of the Welica developer. You may not use our trademarks without prior written permission.

7. User Conduct

You agree to use Welica responsibly and in accordance with these terms. Specifically, you agree not to:

  • Educational Use Only: Use the app for its intended educational purpose only. Do not use it for unlawful, harmful, or unethical purposes.
  • Harmful Content: Submit harmful, offensive, defamatory, obscene, or illegal content in reflections, messages, or any other fields.
  • Harassment: Engage in harassment, bullying, or discriminatory behavior toward other users or our team.
  • Security Violations: Attempt to reverse engineer, hack, decompile, or otherwise disrupt the app or our systems.
  • Multiple Accounts: Create or maintain multiple accounts. One account per person only.
  • Automation & Scraping: Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or scripts to access the app or extract data without permission.
  • Impersonation: Pretend to be someone else or misrepresent your identity or affiliation.

8. Account Deletion

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your Welica account at any time using one of these methods:

  • In-App: Open Settings, navigate to Account, and select "Delete Account"
  • Email Support: Contact us at support@welica.app with your account email and a deletion request

What Happens When You Delete

When you request account deletion, we will permanently remove:

  • Your profile information
  • Your learning progress and course history
  • All reflections and personal entries
  • AI-generated feedback associated with your account
  • Any other personal data linked to your account

Warning: Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Please ensure you have saved any information you wish to keep before requesting deletion.

9. Disclaimers

Service "As-Is"

Welica is provided "as-is" without any express or implied warranties. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your specific expectations.

Educational Content Disclaimer

The content provided in Welica is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not:

  • Medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
  • Professional psychological counseling or mental health treatment
  • Legal advice or professional legal counsel
  • Professional career counseling or job placement services

Always consult with qualified professionals for serious concerns or decisions in these areas.

Learning Outcomes

We do not guarantee specific learning outcomes or results. The effectiveness of the content depends on your engagement, effort, and individual circumstances.

AI Feedback Limitations

AI-generated feedback has inherent limitations and should not be treated as professional advice. Always use your own judgment and seek professional guidance when appropriate.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Welica and its developer are not liable for:

  • Service interruptions, downtime, or technical failures
  • Data loss, corruption, or accidental deletion of your content
  • Failures or issues with third-party services (Apple, Google, Firebase, OpenAI)
  • Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Lost profits, lost revenue, or loss of opportunity

Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is less.

11. Modifications to Service

Service Changes

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue any features or the entire service at any time. We will notify users of significant changes when possible.

Terms Changes

We may update these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the app. Your continued use of Welica after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Termination

Termination by Company

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if we determine that you have violated these terms, engaged in unlawful activity, or otherwise acted in a manner that could harm Welica or other users.

Termination by User

You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account through the app or by contacting support (see Section 8).

13. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.

Dispute Resolution

  • Informal Resolution: Before pursuing formal action, we encourage you to contact us at support@welica.app to resolve disputes informally.
  • Arbitration: If informal resolution fails, any dispute arising from these terms shall be resolved through arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (India), with the seat of arbitration in Chennai, India.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and all other provisions will remain in full force and effect.
